Dr. Moore started his life in DeKalb County, Alabama. He grew up in the rural community of Grove Oak, Alabama on Black Oak Creek, where he graduated from Fyffe High School in 1990. He spent his childhood on a small farm with dogs, cats, horses, and cattle. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, riding horses, and taking in the beautiful landscape of the Appalachian foothills near the Tennessee River. Dr. Moore fell in love with East Central Alabama when he attended Auburn University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences in 1996. He later lived on a farm that he leased in western Lee County where he ran a horse boarding operation and practiced equine podiatry. Alongside the farm, Dr. Moore both worked at and attended Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine, where he graduated in 2000. He then completed a large animal medicine internship through Tuskegee in 2001. Dr. Moore met his wife, Kate, in Auburn where they worked and lived but later moved away to and were married in Florence, Alabama. Dr. Moore's career took his family from Florence to Huntsville for a few years while he worked as an associate veterinarian, performing mixed animal medicine and surgery. Although Dr. Moore and Kate appreciated being near family in their native North Alabama, they had a strong itch to return to the place where they met and fell in love: The Loveliest Village on the Plains. Since moving back to Auburn in 2010, Dr. Moore has enjoyed providing relief veterinarian services to multiple veterinary practices across East Central Alabama and Lee County. In October of 2013, Dr. Moore and Kate were blessed with the birth of their first daughter, Lauralee Macy. Dr. Moore then began to focus on starting his own mixed animal practice in Lee County. After a lot of patience and work, Saugahatchee Animal Hospital was able to open in January of 2016. During this busy time, the family was again blessed in February of 2016 with the birth of their second daughter, Slaton O'Neil. Currently, Dr. Moore and his family enjoy creating strong roots in Lee County, running the family veterinary practice, spending time with their dogs and horses, and tailgating/attending Auburn football games. Dr. Moore looks forward to years of successful work growing his practice and developing relationships while serving the great people and communities in East Central Alabama.Services
