I was the kid who always brought home every stray or hurt dog, cat, or varmint. My first purebred dog was an Irish Setter whom I paid for with college tuition money. "Rocky" stayed in so much trouble, that my family told me that "we" would go to obedience school or "we" would find a new place to live. We loved it, and I was hooked. My next step was a real show dog!

Pat Klausman and I taught horseback riding at the same school. Long involved in obedience, Pat had just acquired a wonderful Golden puppy, "Sprite." Pat (wisely) suggested that instead of another Irish, maybe I should look at Goldens. I did, and "P" and "K" combined to become Pekay.

I had great aspirations. My plans were for "Tally" to become the first ever CH-UDT. We did it! - but we were the fourth. About this time GRCA instituted the WCX; and by rushing to the first tests we were the first ever CH-UDT-WCX! (Please note that I said "we." He was pretty talented; he didn't have to work nearly as hard as I did!)

I have trained and shown my own dogs in obedience, tracking, field, and conformation. I worked as a handler's assistant for several years - opening and closing every dog show. (Talk about the original "Survivors!")

Seriously, we are proud to have produced Goldens that have earned over 300 titles in all areas. Pat has retired from breeding, but I continue the Pekay name with Pat's daughter, Laura Levey.
