At Blue Dog Boarding and Daycare Kensington we feed our boarding dogs in crates for several reasons: to insure they eat only their food (some dogs have allergies and are on restricted diets), to insure there are no food fights/food aggression. we believe in allowing 90 minutes for eating and digestion ( again this practice is safety driven for your dog) to avoid up-set stomachs and bloat. When we put the dogs to bed at night they sleep in crates that are appropriately sized for them with water available to them. The reason for the crates is because it goes back to dogs living in dens to eat and to rest,; the natural den instinct.
